Senior Lecturer

Dr. Lewis Lummer is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Baylor University. He received his Bachelor of Communication Arts with International Studies focus from Gallaudet University in 1996, Master of Deaf Education and Deaf Studies from Lamar University in 1999, completed Rehabilitation Administration certification program from San Diego State University in 2000, and earned a Doctor of Education with Reading Specialization and Curriculum and Instruction from Northern Illinois University in 2010. He is a certified supervisor, mentor, and teacher and is an integral member of the team that oversees the Deaf Education undergraduate program, where he teaches courses in Deaf Education and American Sign Language (ASL). He provides professional seminars and trainings on related topics across the world.
Prior to coming to Baylor in 2010, he spent 20 years teaching ASL courses in different schools and universities, spent 14 years as a classroom teacher and researcher at multiple K-12 settings, as well as e11 years at the university level.
