What attracted me to CSD: The purpose, the people, and the ministry! CSD allows and creates a unique opportunity to love and serve a particular community! We get the chance to be equipped to then empower others by serving their needs. It provides a space in fostering relationships with your patients where you can really have opportunities to reflect and bring hope within therapy. I've realized that I take for granted the ability to speak and communicate, which is so necessary today. From the ways we express ourselves to how we connect with others, communication intertwines us within society, and it burdens me that many don't have this same outlet or have trouble and difficulty articulating and expressing themselves. This is the people group that we get the chance to work with. This unique purpose, with this specific community, where God allows us to partner in His kingdom work—this is what attracted me to CSD!
What I tell others about Baylor’s CSD Program: Baylor uniquely embodies and embraces CSD as a special ministry opportunity, seeking to find ways to glorify the Lord through serving others!

What attracted me to CSD: I chose to switch into the Baylor CSD Department, from originally being a biology major, in the Spring 2022 semester. My interest in CSD was initially sparked by a close friend from home, but the more I became involved in the Baylor CSD community, the more I felt God’s call for me to make the change. With the CSD community being so kind, uplifting, and faith-based, it’s exactly what I wanted to be involved in. Now being a CSD major, I can’t see myself doing anything else at Baylor!
What I tell others about Baylor’s CSD Program: I absolutely love that CSD professors make genuine efforts to connect with their students not only as teachers but also as mentors.

Also, the Department places a strong emphasis on research in order to best serve others, and I've found that the class material is beneficial inside and outside of the classroom.

What attracted me to CSD: I chose CSD because of how passionate the professors and students were about the program. I have always known that I wanted to work with children, but I wasn't sure what that looked like. After talking to students and professors in the CSD Department, I knew that speech pathology was the perfect way to make a difference.
What I tell others about Baylor’s CSD Program: I love the CSD program because I know that my professors are equipping me to make a difference in the lives of people with communication disorders, and because it has given me a community of people who have the same desire to make a difference.

What attracted me to CSD: My neighbor growing up received speech therapy, and it was incredible to watch the transformation in his communication! I always wanted to make an impact on children the way his therapist did for him. I also love the various paths you can pursue with this major. You can work with people of any age, in several settings, on anything from language and literacy to feeding. I don't think I will ever be bored in this career!
