What attracted me to CSD: It’s a great combination of helping people and the medical field. You have so many areas you can serve in and change so many lives. I’ve observed some speech pathologists and seen the impact they had on the clients. I would love to incorporate what I have already learned and apply it to my future career.
What I tell others about Baylor’s CSD Program: CSD offers so many opportunities to explore what areas interest you. With the various classes you have to take in undergrad, it has given me a better idea of what I want to focus on. The hands on learning and small class sizes allows the student to engage and ask more questions. I have found so many different passions through the experiences that have been presented to me, and I am excited to continue thriving in the CSD program.

I so often take language for granted, and I love how CSD has the privilege in supporting and walking alongside those with communication struggles during such an intricate season. CSD is relational which is what brings me the most joy! Getting to know others, hearing their stories, and having a platform to love and serve—this is why I love CSD!

What attracted me to CSD: At a Baylor event, I met several CSD professors and immediately felt drawn to the community I could be a part of! After researching the major more, I knew it would be a perfect fit as I want to make a meaningful impact in kids’ lives, and there are so many career options—from school-based therapy to medical interventions to clinical research.
What I tell others about Baylor’s CSD Program: Academically, you get to apply much of what you learn early on with language samples, research opportunities, and hands-on experiences that other majors usually only experience once they are upperclassmen, so you'll know if you like the program very quickly. But beyond academics, the community we have in the CSD program is one of a kind! Not only will you make relationships with professors who genuinely care about you as a person and student, but you will also experience great friendships and connections with your peers. The CSD program is more than a major—it's a home away from home!

Whether you are working in a hospital, school, or clinic, CSD helps change the lives of many for the better. What I tell others about Baylor’s CSD Program: The CSD program at Baylor is one of my biggest blessings! Coming to Baylor as an out-of-state student, I was extremely nervous and did not know what to expect. However, the CSD faculty and fellow students truly welcomed me with open arms. It is inspiring to witness how each person within the program has a true heart for CSD and the willingness to help others. The faculty members get to know each and every student on a personal level and equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to become successful SLPs and audiologists! Overall, Baylor's CSD department has been nothing more of exceptional, and I could not imagine myself at any other place!

What attracted me to CSD: What attracted me to CSD was my background of having English be my second language with me not learning it until I was three years old. Spanish was my first language and the transition to speaking English was very hard. That challenge of learning a new language sparked an interest in communication leading me to speech pathology.
What I tell others about Baylor’s CSD Program: The CSD program feels like a second family. Everyone in the program is extremely caring and strives to help others. The professors, staff, and students are always there for one another and want everyone to succeed.
