Marnie Abrahams
Senior Lecturer
Marnie Abrahams is a senior lecturer in American Sign Language in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. She joined the Baylor faculty in 2012. Professor Abrahams received a Master of Arts in Theology and Culture from Logsdon Seminary in 2007, then moved to Hartford, Connecticut to work with the National Theatre of the Deaf. Upon returning home to Texas, Professor Abrahams spent several years working as a professional certified sign language interpreter, before beginning her teaching career. Since joining the Baylor faculty, she has been instrumental in helping to establish the ASL minor and working with colleagues toward the acceptance of ASL for language credit across the university.
Professor Abrahams serves on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committees for both Robbins College and the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. She is also a mentor and advocate for Third Culture Kids and students with diverse cultural experiences, through the Department of Global Engagement’s Global Bears program.
