Steven Moates, SLPD, CCC-SLP
Online CSD Clinical Program Director Clinical Associate Professor
Dr. Steven Moates is a Clinical Associate Professor and the Clinical Program Director for the online graduate program in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. He also serves on the Robbins College Interprofessional Education Committee and is a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CSHE). Dr. Moates completed his Bachelor of Arts in Communication Science and Disorders at Auburn University at Montgomery, his Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Montevallo and a Clinical Doctorate of Speech-Language Pathology (SLP.D.) at Nova Southeastern University. Prior to coming to Baylor University, Dr. Moates was the Director of Clinical Education at Samford University in Birmingham, AL., and the Clinical Externship Coordinator at the University of Montana in Missoula, MT. He also has 15 years of experience in a school setting in the state of Georgia.
Dr. Moates’ research has focused on the perceived effectiveness of supervisory behaviors and supervisory attitudes towards the supervision of speech-language pathology assistants (SLPAs) in the schools and perceived effectiveness of various conflict management styles in clinical education. He is currently researching the perceived clinical self-efficacy of online graduate students over the course of their clinical program.
