Off Campus Clinical Educators
Thank you for your willingness to serve as a Clinical Educator for Baylor University's Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders program! Below, you will find a number of helpful reminders and links to assist you in your role.

CALIPSO
CALIPSO is the web-based application that Baylor University uses to manage key aspects of our clinical education program. In addition to the notes below, you can find additional CALIPSO instructions for clinical supervisors here.
Logging in to CALIPSO
Your information as a supervisor for our students is either already in CALIPSO (if you have supervised our students with CALIPSO before) OR you will be notified soon from CALIPSO for you to log in and change your password. Your login is always your ASHA number. Please send your ASHA number and license number to Deborah_Rainer@baylor.edu for our records.
Recording Student Hours
Typically at the end of each week, students will enter their clinical hours into CALIPSO. You will then receive an email from CALIPSO requesting your approval of those hours.
When you log in to CALIPSO to approve hours, please check to make sure the student has the right placement site showing and the correct hours in each category. It is very important that each category a student may have hours in is recorded. Example: A student may have a client that is both fluency and articulation. The student needs to record hours in both sections if she or he is working on each area. Because each area of evaluation must be completed prior to graduation, it is crucial that the correct clock hours are counted.
In order to count your entity as a "site," each student should receive a minimum of 50 clinical hours during her or his ortation.
Evaluation
Clinical Educators will complete a mid-term and final evaluation for each student. Please follow these steps at the end of the semester:
- In CALIPSO, complete the "current evaluation," showing it as the semester final evaluation.
- Mark each possible area, including the severity, linguistic diversity, and cultural considerations.
- For the question on referral of clients, while we do not always let students make the referral, it is important that it be addressed if we have spoken with them about what the next referral would be in specific categories.
- Once the evaluation has been completed and reviewed with the student, check the "final submission" box and save the evaluation.
