CSD Early Graduate Admissions Initiative
Baylor University undergraduate students majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders with aspirations of attending Baylor’s Residential Graduate Program for Speech-Language Pathology have an opportunity to apply for Provisional Acceptance to the master’s degree program.
Students meeting all of the following standards are invited to apply:
- Earned a minimum of 50 undergraduate credits
- Earned a B (84%) or better in CSD 1308, 2318, 2251, and 2356 (formerly CSD 3357)
- Completed all ASHA pre-requisite courses:
- STATS 1308
- Biology with Lab
- Social Science (Anthropology, Psychology, or Sociology)
- Physical Science (Physicals or Chemistry)
- Earned a minimum GPA of 3.5
Important Application Dates
March 15 | Application opens annually for sophomore and junior CSD majors meeting the prerequisite requirements |
May 10 | Application deadline annually |
June 15 | Announcement of Provisional Acceptance decisions distributed to applicants |
Maintaining Early Admission Status
To maintain Provisional Early Admission status, if offered, the following requirements are necessary:
- Make a B or better in all CSD courses (excluding ASL courses)
- Maintain a minimum or higher cumulative GPA of 3.5
- Participate in a minimum of three of the following pre-professional CSD engagement activities before submitting your Continued Acceptance Application two semesters prior to graduate:
- Enrollment and completion of CSD 4V86 Reading Assistant or Undergraduate Student Clinician
- Enrollment and completion of CSD 4V89 Mission Trip to Rwanda
- Shadowing experience in speech-language pathology
- Research involvement in CSD (Research Assistant, completion of URSA project, enrollment and completion of V9R research variable course, etc.)
- Active NSSLHA membership
- Volunteerism in an area related to the CSD field
- Serving in a CSD Undergraduate Student Leadership role as either a CSD Ambassador or CSD Mentor
Documentation of these requirements will be added to the final application two semesters prior to a student’s intended graduation.
