Undergraduate Clinic Involvement Opportunities
CSD 4V86: Undergraduate Community Engagement and Service Learning in Communication Sciences and Disorders (3 Hours)
How can I be involved in clinic as an undergraduate student?
Eligible students are encouraged to apply for selection and enrollment in CSD 4V86, a CSD-restricted elective course that offers undergraduates the chance to collaborate with graduate clinicians, clinical faculty, parents, teachers, and others. In this unique setting, students gain valuable clinical experience while serving children in our community. Students in CSD 4V86 can choose between two roles: Literacy Assistant or Undergraduate Student Clinician.
Literacy Assistant
Literacy Assistants, often referred to as "LAs," are students enrolled in CSD 4V86 who are trained to work directly with clients attending the Baylor Language and Literacy Clinic.
Weekly classes and conferences are provided to equip LAs with a variety of multisensory language strategies for facilitating literacy skills. A typical caseload includes working with 4 clients during individual sessions for approximately 8 hours of clinic work weekly.
Undergraduate Student Clinicians
Undergraduate Student Clinicians are students enrolled in CSD 4V86 who are trained to work directly with clients in the Baylor Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic.
Weekly classes and conferences are provided to equip Undergraduate Student Clinicians with foundational treatment knowledge for facilitating client services.
