Become a Reading Assistant
CSD 4V86: Undergraduate Community Engagement and Service Learning in Communication Sciences and Disorders (3 Hours)
What is a Reading Assistant?
Reading Assistants, often referred to as "RAs," are students enrolled in CSD 4V86 who are trained to work directly with clients attending the Baylor Language and Literacy Clinic.
Weekly classes and conferences are provided to equip RAs with a variety of multisensory language strategies for facilitating literacy skills. A typical caseload includes working with 4 clients during individual sessions for approximately 8 hours of clinic work weekly.
Students have the opportunity to partner with graduate clinicians, clinical faculty, parents, teachers, and many more while serving children in our community and gaining valuable clinical experience in this unique setting.
