Outside Scholarships for SLP Graduate Students
Outside scholarship opportunities that align with your background, experiences, and academic goals can provide an excellent opportunity to assist with financing your education. This list is provided as a resource to help students explore additional funding opportunities. In the event that you are granted an outside scholarship, you are required to report it using the Outside Scholarship Report Form. Check back periodically for updated scholarship opportunities.

American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation
- The American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation (ASHFoundation) invites full-time students who will be or who are currently enrolled in a communication sciences and disorders graduate program to apply for graduate scholarships.
- Scholarships are available to students who are undergraduate seniors or who are currently pursuing master's or doctoral degrees. Within the overall Graduate Student Scholarship program, funding opportunities include:
- Up to 15 general graduate student scholarships, of $5,000 each, will be awarded.
- Up to 11 graduate student scholarships will be awarded for special purposes.
National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA)
- $5,000 National NSSLHA Graduate Scholarships, administered by the ASHFoundation, are available for undergraduate senior students with active National NSSLHA memberships and who will begin graduate study in the fall.
National AMBUCS, Inc. For the Future of Therapists
- Amount: Up to $6,000
- For graduate students enrolled in a graduate physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech pathology program.
Council of Academic Programs in CSD (CAPCSD)
- CAPCSD has a long history of supporting student education through the scholarship program. The scholarships target both prospective professionals and academics in audiology, speech-language pathology, and hearing/speech/language science. CAPCSD has distributed over $1 million dollars of scholarship support.
National Black Association for Speech-Language and Hearing
- The National Black Association for Speech-Language and Hearing is committed to diversifying the professions of audiology and speech-language pathology by financially investing in students, especially Black students, in the disciplines of audiology and speech-language pathology. NBASLH fulfills this commitment by providing scholarships and travel awards sustainable in perpetuity through generous financial contributions to the NBASLH Community of Black Excellence in Scholarship.
Banyan Scholarship for Clinical Education and Healthcare Professions
- The Banyan Scholarship for Clinical Education and Healthcare Professions offers grant money to support working students in healthcare fields. This scholarship is open to students pursuing careers in healthcare, including medical, mental health, addiction treatment, clinical, and social care professions.
The Power of 1 or 2
- The Power of 1 or 2 Scholarships include a graduate scholarship which recognizes graduate college students who always let their light shine bright for others in a way that is impactful and inspiring. Each year, $5,000 scholarships are awarded closing in April and awarded in May. The Power of 1 or 2 also offers a Representation Matters scholarship to an undergraduate or graduate BIPOC student pursuing higher education. This scholarship is awarded each February during Black History month. Starr Taylor a Baylor Doctor of Physical Therapy alumnus is one of the co-founders of this organization alongside her brother, Blaise.
Allina EMPOWER Scholarship
- The Allina EMPOWER Scholarship, administered by Courage Kenny Foundation, encourages and supports ethnically diverse students who are pursuing a career in a medical or rehabilitation field.
- The scholarship is made possible by a generous gift from the David M. Hersey Endowment Fund of the Courage Kenny Foundation.
- Applicants must identify how they will use their education and training and demonstrate their interest in rehabilitation.
- Selection is based on the applicant’s stated intentions, past achievements, need, and graduation ranking. The annual application period is Jan 1 - April 15. Scholarships are awarded in June.
Sertoma Communicative Disorders Scholarship
- As a non-profit organization committed to providing resources for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing, Sertoma awards the Annual Communicative Disorders Scholarship for $1,000 to graduate students who are pursuing an advanced master’s or doctoral degree in the field of audiology or speech-language pathology in the United States. Qualified candidates must be U.S. citizens, be enrolled full-time in an ASHA-accredited program, and possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 or better on all college studies.
F.A. Davis Scholarship
- F.A. Davis is dedicated to developing teaching and learning solutions that meet the needs of nursing and health science students, educators, and practitioners. To stay committed to our goal of shaping the future of nursing and health science education, F.A. Davis is proud to offer annual $1,000 scholarships to support those aspiring to work in healthcare.
IHS Health Professions Scholarship Program
- This scholarship is for American Indians and Alaska Natives who are pursuing a degree full time in a health profession. They must have a 2.0 GPA, practice at an Indian health facility for 2 years following graduation, and be US citizens who are members of a tribe or village that is federally recognized.
HIE Help Center Scholarship for Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy Students
- This $1,000 scholarship is for physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech pathology students with a 3.0 GPA in a US program.
National Association of Junior Auxiliaries Graduate Scholarship Program
- Are you a graduate student interested in working directly with children to address their special needs? If so, consider applying for the NAJA Graduate Scholarship Program! The program is open to students pursuing graduate-level studies for one year in fields that address the special needs of children and youth. Some such needs may include counseling, mental health, special education, speech pathology, exceptional children, remedial skills development, and gifted and talented.
AMN Healthcare Care Champions Scholarship Program
- We believe in the future of healthcare and in you. To help overcome financial barriers, we proudly support students in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, Social Worker, and School Psychology programs with $5,000 scholarships. The annual application period is February 1st –May 8th.
- Applicants must submit an original essay
(minimum of 500 words) using the following prompt: Fast forward 10 years into your future career-what do you hope people say about the difference you’ve made? If you had unlimited resources to create a program that helps students thrive, what would it look like and why would it matter?
