On-Campus SLP Graduate Program FAQ
Total enrollment for Baylor’s on-campus SLP program is approximately 100. About 25 students enter the program each semester.
No, students with a bachelor’s degree in a field other than Communication Sciences and Disorders or Speech-Language Pathology may apply to the on-campus SLP program through Baylor’s Leveling Track. These students will complete required prerequisite coursework at Baylor before beginning graduate-level SLP studies.
Students in Baylor’s on-campus SLP program begin clinical experiences during their first semester in the program. On-campus SLP students will obtain clinical experiences in the Baylor Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic and will perform a full-time externship the final semester of the program in one of 150 sites spanning the nation.
Baylor’s on-campus SLP graduate program is a full-time academic program with coursework and clinical experiences typically taking place during regular business hours.
Graduates of Baylor’s on campus SLP program will have completed the academic and clinical requirements necessary to pursue licensure and certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist, including clinical hours and the Praxis examination. However, licensure is granted by individual state licensing boards, and some states may require additional steps after graduation.

Baylor’s on-campus SLP program is accelerated and can be completed in approximately 15 months (four semesters). Students entering through the Leveling Track may need additional time to complete prerequisite coursework before beginning the graduate curriculum.
Baylor University does not offer on-campus housing for SLP students; however, there are many resources for locating and selecting off campus housing in Waco. The Graduate Student Housing Community, for example, provides housing near the Baylor campus that meets the varied needs of Baylor’s graduate students.

Baylor's on-campus SLP graduate program follows Baylor University's Graduate Academic Calendar. Some semesters could potentially begin the week before the start of classes to allow for trainings and orientations. Your incoming cohort will be contacted about start dates.
