Outside of academics, Baylor has made an impact on me, I would say, professionally and in my personal growth. I’ve seen myself mature a lot over the years and grow in areas other than just academics.

Why did you choose to pursue speech-language pathology at Baylor?

I was led to this major by being surrounded by it my entire life. My mom was a speech-language pathologist, and growing up around it, I knew that was something I was passionate about and something that I would like to further my education in.

I chose Baylor because it was close to home, but I also attended undergrad here. I was really poured into by the staff and faculty, so I knew I wanted to stay. I thought it was really important to get my degree, and the fact that it was an accelerated program is such a plus.

In what ways has Baylor made an impact on you?

The Baylor faculty and staff support students with open arms. They have an open-door policy, which is just so helpful. Any question or concern you may have, they’re always willing to listen and help.

The CSD program prepares you for your future goals by letting you get hands-on contact with so many different areas as a speech-language pathologist. There are so many specialties that you can go into. I have had the blessing to be in the general clinic for my first semester. I have had clients with therapy in feeding, articulation, language, and social skills, so it has been the greatest blessing to have access to hands-on treatment with all of that.

What would you say to a student considering Baylor’s speech-language pathology program?

I would tell a student that’s considering the program to pray about it and just listen to God. If that’s where He’s calling you to be, come, and they will welcome you with open arms.

I think that a student should say yes to the Baylor CSD program because it is fast, and the faculty and staff care about you so much. You just get so much variety within the program and it’s just such a blessing.
