Types of Clinical Placements
Throughout their time in Baylor University's online Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders program, students will complete three clinical practica and one clinical internship, totaling 400 clinical clock hours and nine credit hours. The requirements for each placement opportunity are outlined below.

Practicum 1
- Student is onsite 3 days (24 hours) per week for the full 13-week rotation
- Student earns a minimum of 80 total direct client hours (diagnostic and treatment)
- Clinical hours and evaluations are completed in EXXAT
- Practicum 1 is the first of four clinical placements that the student will complete
Practicum 2
- Student is onsite 3 days (24-30 hours) per week for the full 13-week rotation
- Student earns a minimum of 90 total direct client hours (diagnostic and treatment)
- Students are expected to participate in the full 13-week scheduled rotation
- Clinical hours and evaluations are completed in Calipso
- Practicum 2 is the second of four clinical placements that the student will complete
Practicum 3
- Student is onsite 3 days (24-30 hours) per week for the full 13-week rotation
- Student earns a minimum of 90 total direct client hours (diagnostic and treatment)
- Students are expected to participate in the full 13-week scheduled rotation
- Clinical hours and evaluations are completed in Calipso
- Practicum 3 is the third of four clinical placements that the student will complete
Internship
- Student is onsite 5 days (35-40 hours) per week for the full 13-week rotation
- Student earns a minimum of 115 total direct client hours (diagnostic and treatment)
- Students are expected to participate in the full 13-week scheduled rotation
- Clinical hours and evaluations are completed in Calipso
- The Internship is the fourth of four clinical placements that the student will complete
