Shatonda S. Jones, PhD, CCC-SLP, CBIST ,is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders’ Online Speech-Language Pathology Program. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Tulsa, a Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology with emphasis in medical speech pathology from the University of Iowa, and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Therapeutic Science from the University of Kansas (Medical Center). Dr. Jones has taught in higher education for well over a decade. She is a Certified Brain Injury Specialist Trainer (CBIST) through the Academy of Brain Injury Specialists and completed the Stanford University Internet Based Successful Aging Mini-Fellowship (iSage) program in Ethnogeriatrics.
Dr. Jones has nearly 20 years of clinical experience in medically based speech-language pathology. She maintains active clinical practice and specializes in adults and geriatrics with neurogenic communication and swallowing disorders with a particular interest in stroke survivors and their families. Dr. Jones is committed to service to the profession and community and has served at the local, state, and national levels in various capacities. She is currently a member of the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) and is a past member of the Continuing Education Board (CEB) both through the American Speech Language Hearing Association.
