Tricia Olea-Santos, PhD, CCC-SLP

Dr. Tricia Olea Santos is an Adjunct Professor at the Baylor University Online Communication Sciences and Disorders program. She has completed degrees from the University of the Philippines-Manila (BS), Columbia University (MS), and the University of Texas at Dallas (PhD). Her primary area of expertise is in adult cognitive-linguistic disorders. Dr. Santos’s research has focused on discourse in healthy aging, aphasia and dementia, health literacy in adults, and life participation after stroke. Her recent research partnerships have examined the perceptions of living with aphasia, health education of patients post-stroke, and caregiver perceptions in dementia care.
Dr. Santos has over 20 years of clinical experience. She has taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels and provided professional continuing education webinars. She maintains a clinical caseload in acute care and inpatient rehabilitation settings. Dr. Santos has co-authored journal articles and a book chapter on topics pertinent to discourse in healthy aging, aphasia, and dementia. She is published in several peer-reviewed journals, such as Aphasiology, Folia et Phoniatrica, Topics in Stroke Rehabilitation, Journal of Aging and Social Change, and International Journal of Speech-language Pathology. Her work has been presented nationally and internationally at speech-language pathology and gerontology conventions.
